In this virtual or in-person presentation, we explore the art of marionettes by considering how marionettes are made and how they are used in performances. Focusing on marionettes made by Southwest artist Gustave Baumann, we learn how marionettes are designed to mimic the anatomy and movements of the human body. We consider how marionettes are manipulated to express emotion and dramatic situations.
