Description
Students will learn about the pre-conquest origins of amatl (Nahuatl), the process of making amate paper, and its use over time to convey important events and transmit cultural values. Drawing on their unique experiences, students can then create their own amate painting inspired by colorful imagery, symbols, and subject matter.
The program includes a discovery exercise using 3-6 folk art objects, discussion (Q & A), and art activity demonstration.
