Self-sufficiency in the Tularosa Basin


Learn how ranchers survived in the Tularosa Basin pre-WWII.


Students will learn about how self-sufficiency was a necessary practice in the 1930s while living as a ranch-family in the Tularosa Basin. This topic will cover food, housing, medicine, education, and entertainment. Students will relate to self-sufficiency practices of the 1930s to currently self-sufficiency practices during the time of COVID.
