Learn how this important trade route across the continent connected Mexico and the United States. This trail was used from 1821 to around 1880 when the railroads arrived, and impacted the history and culture of New Mexico. We will taka look at maps and changing geographic boundaries and discover many amazing historical sites along the way. How long did it take to walk from St. Louis , Missouri to Santa Fe?  What kinds of things did people in New Mexico want tom buy from the traders?
